DHI CHOI

DHI hair transplantation is one of the most sought after methods by patients today and attracts a lot of attention due to its minimal complications.
The DHI technique is based on the same principle as the FUE technique and varies with regard to the implantation phase.
The grafts taken from the donor area (neck area, between the two ears) by means of a motorized or manual punch are transferred directly to the problem area, without opening channels, with the help of the Choi pen.

With the DHI technique, it is possible to achieve maximum efficiency with higher density, minimizing graft loss and thus accelerating post-operative recovery.

Stages of DHI hair transplantation

Blood tests: The blood tests in hair transplantation are carried out in the preoperative phase to see the general health condition of the patient and whether or not he is suffering from diseases that could endanger his life or that of the team.

Hair Analysis: After obtaining the basic information, the analysis of the patient’s hair follicles is performed. Hair analysis allows us to see if a disease (dermatitis) is present on the scalp but it is also fundamental as it allows us to see the quality of the roots, the density, multiplicity. This analysis allows us to customize the intervention and above all the strategy to be adopted.

Planning of the recipient and donor area: Planning of the area to be treated is essential to obtain a more natural result. Factors such as the anatomical structure of the head, race, age, sex and facial muscles directly influence hair transplantation. The Hamilton – Norwood scale is used when planning.
In planning the donor area where the hair follicles will be extracted, the analysis of the collected grafts is important to select the most suitable punch.

Hair cutting and disinfection: To perform an effective hair transplant, the hair of the recipient and donor area is cut. In the FUE technique the head must be completely shaved while with the DHI technique it is mandatory to shave only the donor area and the recipient area at the request of the patient can also be without shaving.
After cutting, the entire head is disinfected with the help of the Scrub solution.
Anesthesia: The anesthesia applied is generally local but if necessary sedation or general anesthesia can also be applied

Donor area anesthesia: Pre-anesthesia is applied with Dermojet Comfort Inn to minimize pain before local anesthesia. Dermojet Comfort Inn is included in our hair transplant package and no additional fees are charged.

Anesthesia in the recipient area: Local anesthesia is also applied in this area, but the Dermojet Comfort Inn is not used to leave no traces, as it is a sensitive area of the scalp.

Follicular unit extraction: This phase is the process of extracting the follicular units from the donor area using a micromotor or manual punche. Choosing the right graft punch is extremely important, as if not selected correctly, graft loss can occur. For the transplant process to be effective, it is necessary to perform the separation of the follicular units (single, double, triple). The extraction must be homogeneous to avoid any formation of necrosis or empty areas without hair.

Graft implantation: This step is the transfer of grafts taken from the donor area to the recipient area using an implanter called a CHOI pen. Assistants place the grafts in the implanters and the surgeon transplants them by planning them for single, double and triple bulbs depending on the area to be transplanted.

The advantages of the DHI method:

1- Obtain a higher density
2- No edema (swelling)
3- Faster healing than other techniques.
4- It allows you to perform the operation on long hair more easily and without damaging other hair.
5- Provides a more natural look
6- Allows hair transplant without shaving.
7- Less invasive

Precautions to be taken before DHI hair transplant

Medical history before surgery
Since hair transplantation is a surgical operation, it is absolutely necessary to inform your doctor if you have a chronic disease and if you use anticoagulants. If this information is not provided correctly to the team before the operation, it can compromise the result or even the patient’s health.

Do you have any chronic diseases?

If you use anticoagulants, then after consulting your doctor, you need to stop the drug a week earlier, otherwise, it will adversely affect the process. Treatment can be resumed 24 hours after the hair transplant.

You have communicable diseases

If you have a contagious disease (hepatitis B, hepatitis C, HIV), inform the clinic.

Use of medications and supplements before transplantation

Some vitamins used for hair loss increase bleeding, so it is essential to stop taking it a week before coming for a hair transplant. You can start again 24 hours after the hair transplant.

Alcohol use before DHI hair transplant

Stop drinking alcohol a week earlier, as alcohol dilutes the blood and bleeding during hair transplantation negatively affects the process. Alcohol should not be consumed for fifteen days along with medications administered by our clinic after hair transplantation.

Choice of clothes before DHI hair transplant

During the hair transplant procedure, do not wear a pullover or similar clothing to avoid damage to the grafts after the procedure. Button-up front shirt-style dresses or zippered sweatshirts will be more appropriate.

Important tips the night before and the morning of the hair transplant!

Getting a good night’s sleep and having a good breakfast in the morning before the hair transplant is very important for a comfortable operation.

Post-operative information

After 20 days from the hair transplant, the transplanted hair will start to fall out. This fall varies from person to person.
At the end of the 2nd month, the hair will start to grow slowly completing the process in 12 months for the hair implanted in the anterior region, while it can take 18 months in the cleric area.

Wash:

The first wash after the hair transplant is done by our clinic after 24 hours. The first and subsequent washes are extremely important so perform as shown in the clinic and continue for at least 10 days until the scabs have fallen off.

Fall of the scabs:

After the hair transplant, there will be scabs due to wound healing in the transplant and donor area. These scabs provide healing for the scalp but negatively affect circulation if they stay on for a long time. Between the 10th and 14th day, the peeling process should be done as explained in the clinic.

Use of drugs and dietary supplements:

After the hair transplant, fully use the medications given in the clinic to avoid dangerous consequences such as infection.
Using recommended dietary supplements will increase the hair regrowth potential as it will positively affect circulation.

Tobacco, alcohol and other substances that affect circulation:

After the hair transplant, smoking and drugs negatively affect circulation so you must stay away from these substances otherwise, it can affect the result of the operation.
Avoid using alcohol with drugs provided by the clinic after the transplant.

Trauma:

Especially in the first eight days, you need to protect your head from blows, rubbing and trauma, otherwise, it could cause the loss of grafts or even tissue due to circulatory disorders.

Stress:

Emotional stress can lead to hair loss, especially if these conditions persist for long periods. You have to stay away from severe stress for 12 months.

Sexuality:

Avoid sexual intercourse for the first five days.

Precautions to be taken for the first 30 days

  • Avoid heavy work
  • Do not do strenuous activities (cardio after 15 days)
  • Avoid sauna and hammam
  • Do not expose yourself to direct sunlight

Hair cutting and dyeing

The donor area can be shaved with the machine after 2 months while the recipient area can be cut starting from the 6th month with scissors and avoid razor for 12 months. During this time you can cut the growing hair with scissors. It is advisable to wait at least six months before coloring your hair with natural products.

Although the effectiveness of hair transplantation seems linked to the technique performed (FUE OR DHI), the most important point should not be overlooked, the care performed after the hair transplant, which is as important as the transplant performed by our surgeon. The Estetive clinic provides support and advice until the final result, therefore during the first 12 months following the hair transplant.
If necessary, our coordinators will always be available to the patient for advice.
